Mrs. Roberson - Sioux Central High School

  • "Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire."

    -W.B. Yeats

Education...I graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a double major in English and Secondary Education. Currently, I am enrolled in a graduate program at Morningside College working towards a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in ESL.

Classroom...Students are encouraged to discuss, to share. Students, through reading and writing, seek to answer essential questions in the comfort of my classroom. Individual opinions are encouraged, are fostered. Our world is changing, and there are problems to be solved. It will take great minds to find solutions. A great mind is not a mind filled with just fact, but a mind inspired to think, inspired to wonder, inspired to design, inspired to teach, inspired to learn. Through effective communication, students are empowered to do just that!

Hobbies...Although this sounds cliche, I do LOVE reading and writing; however, I have interests that do not "go with" my chosen profession as well. I can spend hours riding my bike, taking pictures, canoeing, boating, swimming, and shopping. My favorite pastime is spending time with my family.
