Mr. Joel McCoy
My name is Joel McCoy, and this is my first year at Sioux Central! My position is the MCS Liaison for the students of Midwest Christian Services transitioning back into public school here! I am also the at-risk coordinator for the district. Along with that, I serve as the assistant varisty wrestling coach, and junior high wrestling coach. I am originally from Estherville, IA just under an hour northeast of here. I graduated from ELC in 2015, and then graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College in 2017 while wrestling for 2 years under coach Cody Alesch, unfortunatley injuries haulted my career at that point so this last year I moved into coaching, acting as an assistant coach for ELC on the high school and middle school levels. Before my time here, I worked at Forest Ridge Youth Services for over a year, helping at risk girls and boys overcome the adversity in their lives. My girlfriend Lindsey and I currently live in Royal, IA with her 3 year old daughter Zaya and our puppy Lincoln or "Linc." My family still resides in Estherville where my father Patrick has taught at Iowa Lakes for over 20 years now, and my mother Michelle works at Northstar Bank where she has been for almost 15 years. I also have a sister, Lena, who is a junior at ELC. I am a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, as well as the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and I also love auto racing. Besides wrestling my other hobbies include almost anything outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and watching many sports such as wrestling of course, football, and softball! Go rebels!!
"When adversity happens, you can take it on and take it over, or it can take you on and take you over"
