Sioux Central Elementary was blessed to have Julia Cook visit our school this morning. Julia is a nationally-recognized, award-winning children’s book author and parenting expert, and her books have been referenced in such publications as Parent’s Magazine, The New Yorker, Green Child Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Yahoo.com, DrLaura.com and BabyZone.com. She read several of her books to students and shared memorable stories reminding students the importance of being lifelong problem solvers! She gave our kiddos the “what to say” and the “how to say it.” We even had the chance to meet her dogs, miniature chihuahuas:). Watch for book orders coming home. If your family decides to order any books, send the order form back to school. Tax and shipping will be waived, and books will be sent directly to the school and delivered to students.

Head chef Lydia Thams took us on a trip back to our childhood to relive our fondest Disney memories! Her guests enjoyed spaghetti & meatballs and spinach puffs. For dessert, a Scottish cookie w/ sweet icing and a glacé cherry & cookies and cream dessert from Beauty and the Beast.

The school has 12 tickets left to sell for finals of State wrestling on Saturday night. These are in the lower bowl section and cost $17. If you would like any please contact Mr. Vasher at avasher@siouxcentral.org.

Words can make a person's day! We are spreading kindness and sharing appreciation for #SiouxCentral staff. This month, students can write a note of gratitude to a staff member. All of the notes are put into building level buckets. A note is drawn from each bucket, and the student who wrote the note and the staff member mentioned get a treat! All of the notes are delivered. Yesterday, over 100 notes were delivered to teachers. Amazing!!
This week, the following students and teachers were recognized:
