The After Prom committee has decided not to hold any activities this summer. We feel that the way this pandemic is progressing it would be in the best interest in everybody’s health that we cancel the activities for the 2020 After Prom. There were many aspects that went into this decision. With this being said, we feel that we want to do something for the Juniors and Seniors. Students, please watch your mailboxes in the next month for something special. Also, we are looking to hold a fun night this fall after the homecoming football game.

Sioux Central does not anticipate that we will be allowed to have an unrestricted attendance graduation ceremony on June 21st. Therefore to give everyone time to make plans, we will not hold another ceremony on this day. This is unfortunate for our seniors but thankfully we were able to honor our seniors in a very personal ceremony on May 17th. You have a lot to be proud of Class of 2020. All students entering 12th grade must have received 2 doses of the meningitis vaccine. To be valid, one of the vaccines must have been received at age 16 or older. There is no grace/extension period for this requirement.

Retirement Plans: My plan is to work at Sioux Lumber in Sioux Rapids for 3 days a week, and hopefully, I will play a lot of golf in the summer, and who knows what will present itself as time goes on.  One thing is for sure, my time will not be spent sitting around.  I like to keep busy.Teaching/Coaching Experience: Taught 33 years at Sioux Central, coached basketball for 1 year at Upper Iowa University. My time at SC includes: 4th-8th grade math then switched to high school math in '95, taught some PE classes, head boys basketball coach for 14 years, head girls track coach for 33 years, started and facilitated the beginning of the mentoring program. Favorite Memory: So so many of them.  From students' and athletes' accomplishments to team accomplishments, to being able to coach my own 2 kids and watch them blossom, to co-workers and fun times together...It's just too hard to list one.  Chief SOH CAH TOA will live forever in a lot of students and will be one good memory. Proud Moment: One of the best things that makes my heart fill up with joy is hearing from former students and sharing the great times and memories with them. Advice for future teachers: Be yourself, believe in the kids because it's amazing what they can truly accomplish as they get older. I cannot believe how fast the last 33 years went.  Enjoy your time and relationships with the students.
